“de la Misión,” a photography exhibition featuring selected portraits of people who live or work in San Francisco’s Mission District, opens Nov. 14th at the Mission Bowling Club in San Francisco. The exhibition, made possible by ArtSpan’s Art-in-Neighborhoods program, will be open to the public through April 7, 2025. I want to thank the 59 kind volunteer participants, each of whom received a “normal” portrait and allowed me to use their image in my art project. In this series, participants are transported to real or imagined settings to explore how we are all impacted by our experiences in this vibrant neighborhood. The Opening Reception is 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 14th, but you can stop by and see the exhibit—and bowl—at your convenience. I also want to thank Foodwise, for enabling me to set up a Portrait Pop-up at the Mission Farmer’s Market, the Mission Bowling Club for hosting the exhibition, and also to ArtSpan for their active support of local artists. See you soon!
